📋 Orders & Minimums

• Minimum order: 200 pcs per order
• Maximum tier: 1,000+ pcs (capped)
• Both Live and Hibernated (blast frost -20°C) available
• Minimum quarterly commitment: 2,000 pcs — failure to meet may result in tier downgrade or price revision
• OTV reserves the right to a ±10% variance on fulfilled quantities due to natural harvest conditions
• All orders are confirmed only upon written acknowledgement by OTV

💰 Payment & Credit

• New partners: 100% payment before delivery for first 3 orders
• Established partners (after 3 orders): 50% deposit on confirmation, balance NET 14 from delivery date
• Late payment: 1.5% interest per month on overdue amounts, compounding monthly
• OTV reserves the right to suspend all deliveries if any invoice is overdue by more than 7 days
• All prices quoted in MYR (RM), exclusive of SST where applicable

🚚 Delivery & Cold Chain

• Free delivery within KL / Selangor for orders of 500+ pcs
• All other deliveries: shipping charged at cost to buyer
• Risk and ownership of goods transfer to buyer upon delivery at agreed location
• Buyer must ensure adequate cold chain facilities (0-5°C for live, -18°C for hibernated) upon receipt
• OTV is not responsible for quality deterioration caused by buyer's improper storage or handling post-delivery

✅ Quality, Inspection & Claims

• Quality guarantee: Replacement for DOA (Dead on Arrival) exceeding 5% of order quantity
• Buyer must inspect all goods immediately upon delivery and report any DOA or defects in writing within 24 hours — claims after 24 hours will not be accepted
• Photo evidence required for all DOA / quality claims
• OTV's liability is limited to replacement of defective goods or credit note — no refunds, no consequential loss claims
• Returns of perishable goods are not accepted once delivery is acknowledged by buyer

💲 Pricing & Adjustments

• Prices locked for 6 months from first order date
• OTV reserves the right to adjust pricing with 30 days written notice due to significant changes in production costs, feed costs, mortality events, regulatory changes, or force majeure
• 5% rebate on quarterly orders exceeding 10,000 pcs (credited against next invoice)
• B2B pricing is confidential — buyer shall not disclose OTV's wholesale prices to any third party or competitor

🚫 Cancellation & Order Changes

• Orders confirmed in writing are binding — cancellation within 48 hours of confirmed delivery: 50% of order value as cancellation fee
• Cancellation within 24 hours of delivery: 100% of order value — perishable goods may already be harvested or allocated
• Order modifications (quantity/date) accepted up to 72 hours before delivery, subject to availability
• Repeated cancellations (3+ in any quarter) may result in partnership review or termination

⚡ Force Majeure

• OTV shall not be liable for delays or failure to supply due to events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to: adverse weather, natural disasters, red tide / algal bloom, disease outbreaks, government restrictions, harvest failure, supply chain disruptions, or pandemic-related restrictions
• In such events, OTV may extend delivery timelines or reduce order quantities without liability

📜 General

• Buyer shall not resell OTV products below recommended retail price without prior written approval
• Buyer shall not rebrand, repackage, or misrepresent OTV products without written consent
• Either party may terminate the partnership with 30 days written notice
• OTV reserves the right to terminate immediately if buyer breaches payment terms, confidentiality, or resale conditions
• This agreement is governed by the laws of Malaysia

🟢 Handling Live Oysters — Standard Operating Procedure

Receive & Inspect Immediately

Upon delivery, open the packaging and inspect oysters right away. Check that shells are tightly closed or close when tapped — this confirms they are alive. Discard any oysters that remain open, have cracked shells, or have a foul odour.

Maintain Cold Chain

Transfer oysters to a refrigerator immediately. Store at 1°C – 5°C. Temperatures near 0°C can stress or kill live oysters. Do NOT submerge in fresh water or standing ice water — this causes osmotic shock and kills them. Do NOT store in sealed airtight containers — oysters need to breathe. Place on a tray with damp cloth or damp newspaper to maintain moisture.

Store Cup-Side Down

Keep oysters with the deeper (cupped) shell facing down. This retains the natural liquor inside, keeping the oyster hydrated and alive longer.

Shelf Life & Freshness

Live oysters can be kept refrigerated for up to 7–10 days from harvest when stored properly (regulatory maximum 14 days per NSSP). However, days in transit count — consume as fresh as possible for the best flavour and texture. Check daily — discard any that remain open when tapped, or have cracked/broken shells.

Before Serving

Scrub shells under cold running water to remove dirt, mud, and debris. Use a stiff brush. Shuck with a proper oyster knife — insert at hinge, twist to pop, slide blade along top shell to detach.

Pro tip: A live oyster should feel heavy for its size (full of liquor). If it feels light or hollow, it may be dead — discard it. The liquor should smell like clean ocean, never sour or fishy. Important: The tap test and smell check confirm viability but cannot detect invisible hazards like Vibrio bacteria or norovirus — these pathogens cannot be seen, smelled, or tasted.

❄️ Handling Hibernated Oysters — Standard Operating Procedure

Understand Hibernation

Hibernated oysters are blast-frozen at -35°C or colder using high-velocity cold air, then stored at -18°C or below. This rapid freezing preserves cell structure, freshness, and flavour. They are NOT dead — they are in a suspended metabolic state.

Storage Upon Receipt

Immediately transfer to a freezer at -18°C or below. Do NOT allow to thaw and refreeze — this compromises quality, texture, and safety. Hibernated oysters can be stored frozen for up to 3–6 months for optimal quality (per USDA guidance). Food stored continuously at -18°C remains safe indefinitely — the time limit addresses flavour and texture.

Thawing Method

When ready to use, thaw in the refrigerator at 1°C – 5°C for 6–24 hours depending on quantity (overnight is ideal for small batches; larger batches may need up to 24 hours). For quicker thawing, place sealed oysters under cold running water for 30–45 minutes — cook immediately after cold-water thawing (this method is not suitable for oysters intended to be eaten raw). Never thaw at room temperature or in warm water.

Post-Thaw Handling

Once thawed, oysters should be consumed within 24 hours. Do not refreeze thawed oysters. Thawed oysters may have slightly opened shells — this is normal as the adductor muscle relaxes during freezing. However, widely gaping shells are suspect. Always perform a sensory check: the oyster should smell briny/ocean-fresh (not foul or ammonia-like), and meat should appear plump and hydrated, not dried or discoloured.

Preparation

Thawed hibernated oysters can be shucked and served raw or cooked (steamed, grilled, baked). Rinse under cold water before serving. They are versatile and work with all cooking methods.

Do not refreeze thawed oysters. While USDA guidance permits refreezing refrigerator-thawed products, oyster quality degrades significantly. Thawed via cold water? Cook before any refreezing. Once thawed, consume within 24 hours. If any oyster smells strongly of ammonia or sulphur after thawing, discard immediately — do not consume.

🍽️ Safe Consumption — Food Safety Guidelines

Raw Consumption (Shucked Fresh)

Only consume raw oysters that smell like clean ocean. Freshly shucked oysters should be plump, glossy, and surrounded by clear liquor. Serve immediately on ice. Pair with lemon, Thai sauce, tabasco, or mignonette for flavour. Note: Condiments and hot sauce do NOT kill harmful bacteria — this is a common myth debunked by the CDC. Only proper refrigeration and thorough cooking eliminate food safety risks.

Temperature Danger Zone

Oysters must be kept out of the 5°C – 60°C danger zone (per WHO/FSANZ standards; FDA uses 4.4°C–60°C). Bacteria multiply rapidly in this range. Shucked oysters on a serving platter should not sit at room temperature for more than 2 hours (1 hour if above 32°C). Replenish ice regularly.

Cooked Preparation

Cooking oysters to an internal temperature of at least 63°C (145°F) for 15 seconds (per FDA for shellfish) eliminates most foodborne pathogens. FSANZ recommends 75°C (167°F) as a general safe benchmark. Popular methods: steaming (4–9 min — once shells open, continue steaming 3–5 more minutes), grilling (5–8 min over direct heat), baking with cheese/garlic (10–12 min at 230°C / 450°F), boiling shucked oysters (at least 3 min), deep frying (at least 3 min at 190°C / 375°F). If steaming, discard any oysters that don't open after cooking.

Who Should Avoid Raw Oysters

The following groups should only consume fully cooked oysters: pregnant women, young children (under 5), elderly individuals, anyone with a compromised immune system, liver conditions (including hepatitis), diabetes, hemochromatosis (iron overload disease), chronic kidney disease, and people on stomach acid-reducing medications. When in doubt, cook.

Hygiene & Cross-Contamination

Wash hands thoroughly before and after handling raw oysters. Use separate cutting boards and knives for oysters. Clean all surfaces and shucking tools with hot soapy water after use. Do not let oyster liquor come into contact with ready-to-eat foods.

Signs of Spoilage — When to Discard

Discard oysters immediately if: shell is open and doesn't close when tapped, shell is cracked or broken, the oyster is dry or shrivelled inside, meat shows unusual discolouration (pink, green, or dark spots), liquor is cloudy or milky, meat has a slimy texture, there is a strong ammonia, sulphur, or fishy smell, or the oyster feels unusually light (empty shell). Critical: Vibrio bacteria and norovirus cannot be detected by sight, smell, or taste — contaminated oysters may appear perfectly normal.

Pre-Orders require 3–7 days lead time to ensure peak freshness. Hibernated oysters are blast-frozen within hours of harvest to lock in quality.

We deliver across all of Malaysia. Live oysters are best suited for KL/Selangor and nearby areas (same-day/next-day cold chain). For outstation orders (Johor, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, etc.), we recommend hibernated oysters which travel safely frozen. B2B partners in KL/Selangor get free delivery on 500+ pcs orders. All other deliveries: shipping at cost.

Live: Refrigerate at 0–5°C, cup-side down, covered with damp cloth. Do NOT submerge in water. Consume within 5–7 days. Hibernated: Keep frozen at -18°C or below. Thaw in fridge overnight (6–12 hours) before serving. Once thawed, consume within 24 hours. Never refreeze.
